At the beginning of July, my family and I took a weeklong vacation to Rhode Island, Newport in particular. I had an amazing time visiting the harbor, taking part in festivals, and swimming in the ocean, among many other adventures. Below, I’ve compiled several galleries of photos surrounding my favorite parts of the trip. For further details, many photos have attached captions for you to read.

The docks were massed with plenty of ships and yachts, many docking for the Fourth of July.
The harbor also contained some interesting ships, like this old ship that caught my attention.

Providence
The unique architecture of Providence fascinated me, with their modern approaches.
As we entered downtown Providence, we passed by the train station to the right of the Providence State Building.
The containers of wood lay awaiting the flames later that night at WaterFire.

WaterFire was a community festival that took place that night in Providence, consisting of countless fires built on structures across the river. It was awesome to see.
Return to Providence
4th of July
On the Fourth of July, Newport held a special event in the morning consisting of tours of the Colony House (where Newport originally declared their independence), patriotic music, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, and a 21-gun salute. Of course, later that night, we viewed a spectacular display of fireworks at the harbor.

One of the many fireworks photos I took, many of which didn’t come out so well. It was a great night, nevertheless.

After the fireworks, in an effort to avoid traffic, we found ourselves overlooking First Beach from a point on the Cliff Walk.
The ocean roared beneath us late at night along the rocky cliff walk.

A few more various, particularly better-captured photos from the trip.

I look forward to returning in the future, and I’ll definitely have many great memories to look back upon from this trip.
