1 – (-2). You keep the one the same, change – to a + sign, and change the negative to a positive. You then end up with 1 + 2, which when solved equals 3.
-2 – 2. You keep the -2 the same, change – to a + sign, and change the positive to a negative. You then end up with -2 + (-2), which when solved equals -4.
-3 – (-4). You keep the -3 the same, change – to a + sign, and change the negative to a positive. You then end up with -3 + 4, which when solved equals 1.
